AOoooh this sounds interesting and very helpful! I'm new to all this and to help with my confidence I'm in!
It's a great idea in theory, but I'm not sure how often people actually go to the cakes and comment. Seems to be a bit hit or miss.
Please can people critique my orchids? They were made without cutters.

Thanks :-)
AI agree frosted, I kinda checked the galleries and there didn't seem to be much action...maybe this is a way to get traffic going in that direction thus possibly then encouraging feedback...who knows...It won't help though if no one comments lol...
I think this would be an awesome idea... Everyone can learn a little something every day ... blessings to you!
Aplease let me know what you think of this cake: http://cakecentral.com/g/i/3215397/a/3468557/childrens-birthday-cakes/

PEER REVIEW-- It's a cute design, but next time maybe try a 50 50 mix of GP and fondant, and let the petals dry a bit, so they retain some curl, and don't lay so flat. They look a bit droopy. The flower petals on the flower could use a little more life as well, with some irregular spacing, and some more dimension.
Athis is fun! How about this one?http://cakecentral.com/g/i/3215394/a/3468557/super-heroes/
AThis is my first time posting a cake for review-- The following cake was inspired by Blue Sheep Bakery- it took me a LONG time to figure out the shape and how to make the cuts-- Ill try and post an initial picture then the link to the other photos in my gallery that has the description- any and all advice/comments are welcomed-Im pretty sure my friends and family are not as honest as they should be - ha [IMG ALT="A striped bass retirement cake -- choc cake- 9x13 carved- LMF fondant- hand painted and dusted. I'm thrilled with the way this cake turned out-- carving is not my thing-- so I found it challenging- I did use pics online as a guide as I had no idea what a striped bass looked like!! Ha--Thank you to Tinazzzviking74 on CC for her guidance and support. It was also the first time I ade and used LMF fondant-- which I LOVE!!!!"]http://cakecentral.com/content/type/61/id/3212113/width/350/height/700[/IMG]

A"Maurorless67": Waaaayyyyy above my pay grade. I hope it didn't taste fishy.
"Rosegin": Quite remarkable. And also above my pay grade.
ABeen working on my buttercream smoothing skills - I only gave this one about 1/2 hour, it's better than before.
Anyone know why my buttercream (it's a practice cake, so BC is shortening based to keep costs down) is sweating on my cake board? Yeech.
It's not sweating...it's the grease from the shortening seeping into the cardboard. Get coated boards or ones that say greaseproof on the pack.
AAh, thanks! I'm going to have to find them ASAP! My SMBC never does this! Another reason to use it! Nancy

I am very new. Hi everyone! I'm just starting out and would love any advice :-)
Hello,
I'd love feedback on this cake from you talented ladies! Perhaps on the execution and design? I fear that coming up with a design isn't my strength, and my focus kind of got lost here, or just wasn't cohesive enough. Thanks much for your input!
A[@]legallyshe[/@], I love the idea you were going for, nice and minimal, just my style. Your neatness needs some work, but other than that, looking good!
Thank you, @AZCouture, that's very helpful! Can you tell me which parts could be neater?
AMost of it. The fondant covering, the edges, the brown ropes (vines?). Just cosmetic stuff really.
AI'm on a wee little screen too, maybe not most of it...but the blue tier for sure. It's darling though!
Now I'm on my big ole' laptop and can see it clearly....watch out! :D Just kidding. So my little screen was playing tricks on me. It's pretty neat and clean already besides the blue tier and the ropes. The clouds could use a little more life too, and that's about all I see. You're already making nice boards with a ribbon edge, points for that!
@AZCouture, the blue tier definitely wasn't as clean. I tried to make the vines appear "organic," thus the messy look there, so it's helpful to know that it didn't come across as intentional. :) And I'll work on those clouds. Thanks again!
