Someone just asked for a quote on this cake.  I'm a little nevous as I've never done anything of this size before.  I don't shun from challenges so, I will make it happen if order goes through.

My question is what is the base/wheels and back made of?  At first I thought it might be carved wood, but I'm not sure.  Any thoughts??

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

That's Rosebud, and they are known for inedible and edible detailing. I would say the wheels are probably wood, with royal icing details. Maybe not, but could be. I see some thick dowel supports near the wheels too.

WOW that's quite a cake!  Man.  That would take some wood shop skills to make that base and wheels, at least I think those are wood.  Good luck with that!

Looks like wood to me too.  I hope you have some experience behind you cos it doesn't look easy.

Not saying that cake is easy to do, but it's not hard either. You can see that it's basically a board supported by thick dowels, probably drilled into masonite or something else. The wheels certainly aren't supporting it, it's just an illusion. Break it down into parts, and it will not be so overwhelming.
