Hi,

I'm planning to donate a cake for a charity auction held at the local food bank. For the live auction Cake should be more than $150.

I have been going through many cake photos to figure out what to make. This is my first auction.

So any tips/ ideas to make a successful cake? I thought of doing a carrot cake, and cream cheese filling. I have second thoughts about doing a fondant cake since people don't like fondant, but I make my own fondant. I'm scared people will not bid when they see fondant, but fondant makes the cake look beautiful.

Please Help!

There are a couple threads on this if you use the search feature you can read, but the general consensus is that a dummy cake with a gift certificate pulls the higher bids as people can order the cake when they have a big event versus buying something they may or may not eat.

Hope all goes well!
