Is that how it's spelled? I just had a casino call me for the 3rd time, leaving a message each time, that they are doing a bridal show in a couple weeks and this time they told me they would "comp" my booth. What is that?
I may be wrong, but I think it means that it's on the house. Which would mean that your booth will be provided to you at no expense to you. Why are they calling you repeatedly?
That's what I thought too, but didn't want to call for my free booth and it mean something else.
I tend to just ignore unsolicited calls, especially when they want money, for whatever reason. So, I have been ignoring them! The show is in just a couple weeks... And I guess they really want me? lol!
A"Comp" (especially at casinos) is short for complimentary.

That's what I was thinking. I would only do it if I didn't have anything on that weekend, and if I could find some stats on attendance, number of other vendors etc. A show is a lot of work, whether potential customers go or not. And there's nothing worse than working hard at it, just to sit there being bored when you could at least be bored at home. Been there, done that.
It's the very first one they have done, so who knows?
Go for it if you feel like it, but don't cancel 5 wedding cake orders so you can go! Have you seen any advertising for the show anywhere? If you were a bride, would you go? Can you call them (or get a friend to call) asking what other vendors are going, as if you were a bride?
Weddings are slow right now, I have a 5 tier due the next day, but that is it. And it is just buttercream with scrolls every other tier, and some purchased gum paste roses on top. Caking in my sleep! I can have that iced and filled and decorated and frozen on Thursday, and take it out the morning of the show, and stack it. then put it in a moving box, to transport the next day.
I don't get out much, and don't watch local tv, so whether I have heard of it is a moot point, lol! I literally have not stepped outside in weeks, except to take my kids to school.
And I have never canceled a wedding cake, except for when it wasn't paid for 8 days out. I did a 6 tier wedding cake with mastitis! I don't cancel cakes, lol.
