I have a question about a cupcake topping I experienced today and I wondered if anyone had any ideas what it might have been - it had the look of a thick buttercream, but it was pliable and could be moulded without making a mess and had obviously been piped on to the cupcake. It had a mint flavour and stronger/ firmer texture than buttercream. Any idea what it could have been made of?
Really old buttercream? haha.
I tasted a shortening 'buttercream' awhile back. Just shortening, flavouring and tons of icing sugar. It was super thick, sort of a nondescript taste, except for the lemon flavouring they had added.
I didn't try to mold it, lol, but it seemed thick enough that you could have.
Could it have been something like that?
Gosh it sounds odd ! Although I DO make a choc truffle topping for my cuppies that can be piped, and that is quite firm when it sets up, almost like a soft fudge. I wonder if they used some form of melted choc in the mix ? Hmmmm .... xx
AIt tasted very nice, although thick, might have been a fudge type mix, but it was green, is that possible as I've only seen fudge recipes with chocolate?
Not sure - maybe it's possible to make a white choc fudge?
Anyway, you're going to have to go back and buy another and just ASK what type of topping it is, because we're dying to know, now! LOL!!!
