ASo which one are your favorite tools when it comes to cake decorating? I am new to decorating with fondant so I am trying to decide which tools are worth investing in right away at the beginning :)

Hi there, i'm new to it also. I've been looking online and asking advice on Cake Central, and the things i've ordered so far are  a Palette knife to smooth out the Ganache i'll be putting under the fondant, and 2 fondant smoothers so i can create the sharp edged look.

I've also ordered Bead cutters so i can make a pearlised fondant neckalace, a non-stick rolling pin, a non stick pastry mat, a Tala set of tools for shaping, some Sable paintbrushes and synthetic flatbrushes for painting and dusting lustre.

Hope that helps x

Crustdust are you in Michigan? My favorite tools are Google, a tiny pallette knife and my silicone work mat.

I have to admit that the favorite tool I have is the ketchup bottle that my husband got me when I asked him to pick me up a squit bottle for water while I was taking my Wilton classes... He brought me home a Mustard and Kethcup bottle set and I have to admit that they both work wonderfully.  One for water and one for simple syrup... leave it to the DH!!

Amy fav is a medical grade scalpel. it is the best thing for cutting fondant and gumpaste cleanly and exactly. (obviously it's brand new too, hasn't been used in real surgery :) )

Oh I love mine!

Still, my fav took is my agbay! Cuts every cake that goes out the door so it's also my most used.

We are in the same town - but looking at your website, I should mention I am a Pastry Chef so my specialties are plated desserts ;)

Love my KitchenAid mixer - the best tool someone can ever invest in. Like the idea of a scalpel to cut fondant with. Very smart!

My favourite tools are THE MAT by sweetwise.com - for rolling fondant, and a turntable!

My favorite tools are my agbay, KA pasta roller, and the mat.  Just got my agbay and I will never use anything else, absolutely love it.

Agbay is a cake leveler.  They are costly but you'll only buy it once.  They are the Cadillac of cake levelers.
