What did I do wrong?

My first time trying an RKT figure.  Making a "flyring" raptor that rests around middle tier of cake.  I took a wire and shaped it in general form, mixed RKT, pressed and pressed it on.  Allowed to sit over night.  This morning there are pieces on the counter...pieces just fell off.

I used 6 cups of Rice Krispies which I processed a bit in the food processor (coarse chop, no dust).

10 oz of marshmallows

2 tablespoons of butter (instead of the 3 the recipe calls for)

Why did the pieces fall?

And also, it is still slightly soft, not terribly, but a bit.  Is that ok?

From here I microplane and sculpt the shape, the brush with candy melts, allow to cool, then add thin layer of shortening and cover with fondant right?......I don't want to use buttercream.

kara meant you can mix in the melted choc during the making/shaping of the rkt

it doesn't stick to metal --especially that long & involved a piece

if it dries loose it stays flexy until you cover it w/fondant

when i made a big piece with 'movement'

i made it in reasonable sections and after it set up i stuck it all together w wooden sticks

the final coating of fondant or whatever will help hold it all together

but it def needs structure from the inside--it's as needy as cake is--it's not beyond the law of gravity

make a mold out of foil to hold it in while it sets up

when i whirl the rk in the food processor i measure after & make the rkt and it's dense and immoveable

you gotta check it often during the first few hours while it sets esp for this involved a design

shortening? no. why?

you can do this!!!!
