I'm making my color flow icing for Wilton Course II. My oh-so-helpful toddler was helping me by adding that extra tsp of water that I need. Then, as soon as I turned my back, she dumped in the rest of the water in that cup. Thankfully it was my quarter measuring cup, and it was only 1/3 full.

I would dump it and start over if I had more color flow mix, but I only have what came in the kit.

My question is whether this will even come out OK for filling in. I figure I can borrow somebody's bag for piping the outline if this will still be OK for fill.

Here's how to tell if it's ok to fill. Get a spoonful and drop back into your bowl. If the "puddle" disappears, then it's ready.

Hope this is helpful.

Oh my! Gotta love kids!

Take it to class. As you said you can always use it for the flooding part. I'm sure there will be someone nice enough to loan you a little for the outlining.

Something you can try is taking out some of it, maybe a 1/2 cup and adding cornstrach to it. Cornstarch will help thicken it up. The longer it sits the more it will asborb the water. I can't give you an exact amout of how much to add. I'd start with a couple of tablespoons.

In a pinch you can also use royal icing for color flow. Color flow mix does make a stronger piece but I've used royal icing a few times to make them. Royal also dries matte what than shiny like the color flow.

Thank you so much! I'm just glad I don't have to go out and spend $10 on the mix and make a new batch in a hurry. I was just kind of worried that if you started out with too much water it would never bind like it was supposed to.

Oh well - off to class!
