I have to be in FL mid-August this year. I thought I could squeeze in a decorating class while I'm there.  An online search just leads me to Michaels classes and I would like a more advanced class.  I know that there are awesome decorators in Florida but I just can't seem to find any classes offered.  If anyone can point me to a sugar flower class or a 3D cake structure or lambeth style piping class etc., or any advanced cake decor class, I would greatly appreciate it.

One more thing....being armed with a list of cake supply places in Orlando would be the icing on the cake (pun intended)

esp chocolate and sugar work--big bucks but what an opportunity

and of course sweet-hearted tonedna (of cc)

talented and generously sharing decorator of bake-me-a-cake, orlando's premium bakery

don't know if they have classes

but tonedna has some of the coolest you tubes & tutorials around

anyhow--have a blast!!!

Yes I checked Edna's website, but saw only Michael's classes.  I own several of her dvds and would LOVE to do one of her classes - if not to learn, just to be in her presence , she seems like such a sweet, sweet person!

Notter brings in amazing cake artists for "community interest" courses of 2-4 days.  Do contact them to see if there are classes while you are there.  Also, checkout D&G Occasions for supplies.   

I was in Orlando a couple years ago.  No sure if Disney has Harry Potter, but Universal Studios did, a lot of rides and theme stuff, it was great fun!  I went to D&G also, it's a huge store, but the employees were pretty rude to me so my experience wasn't so great.  Still wish I was going back though!

As a former Orlando resident, I would recommend Mercedes at Bake Me A Cake, for the type of classes you are looking for.

Also, as a former grad from Notter School.... There is a thread I started a while ago detailing my hesitations before joining the school... you can get a better idea of what happened there, if interested. I don't know enough of the details to discuss, and there are a few lawsuits currently going on, so I won't speculate here. 

Ooooooohhhhhh, bummer!  I hadn't heard about the closing.  What a loss - in many ways.

Also, look at Winter Park Community Center - there are pastry classes there as well.
