Today's unreasonable request ,

"Can you take photos all along the way of doing the cake and text them to me so I can see if I like the colours and I can change them if I want to ? "

I am sorry but I really don't have time to stop in the middle of working to take photos , once I have started work you cannot change the colours . I also have other cakes to complete at the same time as your kid's birthday cake , while I am sure it is the most important thing in your world , the wedding cakes I am doing for my other clients are also rather important to them , and none of them have asked me to text them blow by blow pictures of my progress.

Chelle, what can I say.  I am truly amazed. Obviously you should be managing your time better.

My MOB today asked earlier in the week when they could have a sneak peek at the cake.

Don't brides and their mothers have enough to do the day before the wedding than be checking up on the cake?

A bride once asked for photos for her wedding album. I'm not willing to do that whole let me change the design photo thing, but I understood how passionate about her cake she was.

At the time, I was working for another bakery. I was worried how the heck I was going to convince the owners...but they too understood. This particular request fell under one of favorite sayings: " you are only limited by your imagination and budget!"

It's never "just cake!"

You may get a cake for $way to little but you won't get this cake!

See, I wouldn't mind taking photos for them to have later, but I don't want to be sending them during the process.

I've had people ask me to do this too. I had the idiots from the Philadephia Philles tell me that for them to allow me to use the Phanatic on a cake (it was a 3-D cake of him) I had to make the cake, send them photos of the finished cake, then they'd approve it OR NOT. i told him that wasn't how it worked and eventually got the dolts to just give me permission to do it. They suck.

I also had a groom ask me if I made a full-size replica of their cake design ahead of time so that they could approve it. I looked at him for a mnute and said "no."

I was googling "ways to cut costs on your wedding cake" as I was a bit bored and wanted to see what brides are being told these days.
One that was mentioned on a website was:
"Good ingredients can cost a lot, you can save money by asking your baker to use a box mix instead of baking from scratch"
If anyone said that to me I would be using the "get out" line!

That would be a "no cake for you, or your children, or your grandchildren, and when your great grandchildren come along I'll have to think about it."

haha, I look at mine all the time, I'm such a sap :P

I've had the 'sneak peek' request a couple times, but each time it's been way too early, once I was snarky and sent a picture of the ingredients. They were asking a week in advance. At least she laughed, lol.
