I have had a request from a potential customer for a single layer sheet cake or cakes to feed 50 to 75 people and shaped like beer mugs with foam on top.  Not too difficult.  Since it's so simple and not difficult decorations, I was wondering what people charge.  I know people charge less for sheet cake and this particular customer mentioned that she was even thinking of going to an "upscale grocery store" instead (not sure what that means) because she wanted something simple.  I'm just starting out and live in the DC area, so I charge $2.50 per serving for basic buttercream and $3.50 for fondant.  What do other people charge for 9 x 11 sheet cakes that are just single layer, not even torted?

AAs with all products, it depends on your cost (ingredients, labor, and overhead). If we had that order I would recommend two half-sheet single layer cakes (12"x18"), our starting price is $84 each but your price will vary since you may have different costs.
