The Cake I Ended Up Making (Instead Of With The Animals)
Decorating By edencakes Updated 15 Sep 2005 , 6:45pm by edencakes
Thank you to everyone who gave me great feedback in my other post regarding the animals I made and what to do with them. Unfortunately the cake was changed last minute (multiple times in fact ) and I ended up not being able to use the animals (Now I just have them for future use, right? )
Anyway, after MUCH backing and forthing, they decided they wanted something pretty, but not too frilly, with flowers, but nothing too girly, with BRIGHT hawaiian colors, but NOT a hawaiian theme. UGH.
This is what I came up with. I was pushed for time, and was VERY tired by the time I got a chance to decorate it. It was my first brush embroidery, and I am really not happy at all with the finished product. I almost didn't want to post a picture, but I figured I would anyway, because everything's a learning experience, right?
The cake is a 2 layer 7x11 strawberry cake from scratch, with vanilla buttercream.
Thanks again to everyone for all your help and support!
Well Steph, I think you did a great job!! I like every bit of the cake! Especially your writing! It's very good! So don't beat yourself up YOU DID GOOD!! You must have a lot of patience! With the order changing a few times. I would have been ready to give up & tell them to go somewhere else. Good going!!
I think the cake looks very pretty. I am sure the Mom will love it. Your brushed embroidery looks much better than the one time I tried it.
I know it is hard to enjoy making a cake like this when you had your heart and mind set on doing something else that you were really excited about. It is hard to change to something else once you get an idea set in your mind (at least for me).
Your cake is lovely.

I think it looks FANTASTIC! I love the colors, and your brush embroidery came out beautiful! Give yourself a hug from me (((edencakes))) Sounds like you need one after such a trying ordeal.

And thank you TC for complimenting my writing - I wasn't very happy with it, either - I guess I just wasn't in the mood to be happy with anything
Well I think it looks wonderful and your brushed embroidery is very pretty and well done. I don't know how you managed to make your writing so perfect when it was going on top of that flower pattern, but it is perfect. The cake is really well done.
And I can't wait to see what you do with your critters, don't forget to post, those little guys were so adorable!
Geesh, this must have been frustrating, er annoying, to say the least!
Hugs Squirrelly Cakes
I think you did a grand job on this cake!! The colors are beautiful. And your brush embroidery is outstanding!! You should be proud. I think the changes would have driven me insane, too. But I think you made the most of the changes!! I love it!!!
Tanya
I love it! From the embroidery to the great border. I think it turned out great! Man talk about changing your mind. They went in a totally different direction than first planned. I'm sure she loved it!

Steph,
I love your cake, you did a wonderful job on it. I especially like the way the flowers look, the way you brought in the colors like you had painted them on. Great job!
..it totally throws me off when customers to that stuff! I love your cake design and your writing is perfect!
Hi edencakes,
Give yourself a big hug and pat on the back.
Your cake is lovely...just love it to death.
I sorry that you could not use your animals.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments, I guess we really are our own worse critics
I'm glad I ended up posting a pic, I feel SO much better now thanks to you guys. Sometimes people in 'real' life just DON'T GET IT. That's why I'm glad to have all my CC friends!
