How did "nutfreesweets" (http://cakecentral.com/gallery/2257795/hello-kitty) make the fondant Hello Kity on her cake? Do you think it was a cookie cutter or freehand? The pink dress seems to be flat with the rest of the figure, so is it painted on?
I need an easy quick hello kity cake for my granddaughter in 2 days. Nothing like procrastination...
Suggestions appreciated.
Why dont you trace of this picture on to a piece of carboard (cereal Box) and cut a template. roll out some fondant (add a bit of tylose or some harding stuff), place template on top and cut out the entire figure.
Then , cut out yr cardboard template into sections, (head, body, hands, etc)once again lay them on top of rolled fondant and cut each piece individually and paste over yr original fondant cut out (any parts that have to be coloured, add colouring to the fondant before rolling out and cutting.
You can also do a FBCT. or do it with royal icing.
All three shouldnt be difficult. happy to help out.
Ah! just read yr question again. not sure whether they have used a cookie cutter. just trace and cut it with an ex-acto knife. since only the top is in pink you might as well paint it, and then pipe it in black
I made one similar i cut a picture from a coloring book and then trace it and cut it out of gumpaste. The dress was made out of fondant and i used edible ink to outline the rest. I havent downloaded the picture yet
