Does anybody have any ideas on how to create white stitching on pink fondant, I'm making a shoe like this:

I have a stitching tool (which doesn't really look much like stitching really), but I wondered if I could use it to make the indentations, then go over it with royal icing to fill the cavities then clean off the stuff I don't want somehow....?? I've never done anything like that before, but people do it to get a mosaic tile look, so it could work, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

In case anyone suggests it, I can't pipe to save my life, so piping is out of the question I could try painting them on with a tiny paintbrush, but am hoping someone will have a better idea as I can see that leading to inconsistent sized stitches that may or may not go in a straight line!

I would use the stitiching tool then pipe on top of the stitch lines. The lines would help unsteady hands & should be a great guide.

Sorry. I just don't know any other way. Maybe someone else will have a solution!

I would use white gel coloring, straight from the container (since it's already pretty thin), and either the tiniest brush I could find or a toothpick...

I would experiment first to see which gives more precise results.

Flourpots is right that toothpicks are great.

I wouldn't use piping gel. It's so thin that it flows very quickly & is harder to control especially for someone who isn't practiced in piping.
