I am getting ready to make some fondant flowers, I just bought the wilton gumpaste kit. Can you make them and store them for later, or do you need to use them soon. I have royal flowers that I use from over a year ago and they still look great, I was hoping that fondant and or gumpaste would hold up as well. TIA Keli
They will last...
I find though that Gumpaste doesn't re-soften in humidity where fondant will. I also find that straight gumpaste dries too hard.
I have used a 50/50 mix of the two and have had good results.
My only note is that I had to let them dry for 3 days before I could touch them because my petals started falling off. After 3 days I could touch them and they were solid...so happy flower making!

Gumpaste can droop in humid conditions. I always advise keeping flowers somewhere warm and dry, I still have the gumpaste sprays that I made for my wedding cake 6 years ago and they still look as good as the day I made them.
My wedding cake flowers are stored in a glass display cabinet. They are 23 years old and they are the same as the day they were made.
