I was hoping someone could help me, I thought in the past I had read that some people on here have added tylose powder to fondant to make it harden. If so, what is the amount of tylose to fondant. Also, do you just knead it in to the fondant. I would be adding it to Satin Ice that I have. I'm making a mockingjay for my daughters birthday cake and trying to avoid having to make or buy gum paste. Thanks in advance.

My answer probably won't help you that much icon_smile.gif
I usually just dipped my fondant into the jar and kneaded it in until I felt the fondant 'tighten'.
If I remember right, Wilton suggests using their GumTex of 1/4 tespoon per cup(?) of fondant.
Maybe other will have a more definate answer for you.

1/2 teaspoon of tylose or CMC to 1/2 pound/250g of fondant is what I use. You can start there and see. I knead it very well then wrap in a couple of layers of plastic wrap, and then in a ziploc bag. You can use it straight away but I find letting it rest for a good few hours or overnight (always at room temp) helps alot.

I like this video by Lorraine McKay...it shows how she makes her gumpaste or as she calls it, sugarpaste and how she stores it.
