Fresh flowers??

Anyone using fresh flowers on a cake? I've seen some pictures of stargazer lilies on the cakes,
Is this ok, if the stems aren't directly touching the cake?

What fresh flowers are the best for cakes?
Any feedback would be great!

There was a page on this site called non-toxic fresh flowers for your cake. I use fresh flowers, just put a blob of icing on the cake & stick the stem into that.

But is this a list of toxic or non toxic, I thought lilies are toxic??

I use fresh flowers. Make a small ball of gumpaste. Make a small hole in the center of the ball and put some royal into the hole, then put the stem into the hole as well and let the royal dry. Attach the ball with royal to the cake.

Thanks! With your experience in fresh flowers, do they last the night looking fresh?
I'll be setting up around 5pm and cake will be served around 9!
Will the flowers be ok during that time! I'm using stargazer lily and orchids!

They last all night, they look perfect. Have fun!
