Hi all,

I only do cakes as a hobby and much less than I use to do in the past. So, it is time for me to downsize and free up some SPACE!!!

Have any of you had success is selling some of your lightly (or never) used items? While I have never sold anything on EBAY, I am sure I could sell some smaller items and books that way. But what do you do with bigger, more costly items? I have the HIS DESIGNS cake stands and they would be too bulky to ship without it costing a bundle. But, if I just put an ad in the paper I'll have a limited audience and not get very much for them. (Might not anyway since there are so many plastic varieties out there now!)

I would love some pointers on the best way to get rid of some of this stuff.

When I sold alot of my cake pans and other items years ago, I didn't know what the cost would be for shipping either, so I fould a box that would fit the bulky items and weighed the stuff on my bathroom scales, then went online to usps.com and dummy ordered shipping labels, then added $5 to $10 extra, because not all zip code zones are the same price. I always got within a few $$$'s of my intended mark. Also in your ad let your audience know that "this item is oversized, and therefore cannot be combined with other items you ight win from me" so that you don't get screwed on shipping that way. I buy lots of items on ebay that are used. Make sure you are honest about size, shape, condition, and overall description, you would be surprised how many ppl actually b**ch and moan about the slightest little imperfection. Hope this helps. BTW, sent you a pm.

Thanks so much for the info. I guess that would be a smart move to go ahead and get the shipping info calculated and then there will be no surprises for me at the post office. I should have thought of that myself!!!!! Senior moment I guess. icon_lol.gif
