Hello this is my first post on here and i'm not sure if this is the right forum but im just after your opinions.
Can I donate a box of cupcakes for a charity raffle without being registered as a food business in the uk? The organiser says not to worry as it will go down as being homemade! I'm currently sorting out all the paperwork to register with my local council and don't want to get caught doing something I shouldn't be doing.

Also would I be able to hold a one off stall at this same event?

Thanks for reading icon_biggrin.gif

I wish I knew about the uk, but in the states you can donate food as homemade, especially sine the organizer said it was fine for the event. I wish I could help more. Definitely web search that info to be certain, it has to be out there somewhere!

You can donate homemade food in the US, but the local HD will have a say as to how or if it is legal. As with the US, I am sure that your local licensing agency has guidelines for donations. They are the ones with the answer. An event coordinator does not have the authority to allow unlicensed food at an event.

I've recently registered with council/environmental health as I plan to making cupcakes regularly from home. However, having recently completed all their forms, it did say you didn't need to register if you weren't regularly producing food. I think you'll be fine, but if in doubt your local council will have an environmental health section and you should find guidelines on there easily.

On a side note, we often have cake stalls at work for fundraising, and I'm the only one who is registered out of all of us who bake cakes to bring in to sell. HTH x
