Hi everyone,

I've been getting alot busier with cake orders and I think its time to think of a name for my cake company. My boyfriend and I have been writing down a bunch of possible names.
A few of which I have already checked and there are companies that have already taken those name.
So to make it easier we're trying to make it more personal? I guess.

A.T. Custom Cakes (my sons names are Alexander and Taylor, Taylor is the oldest and I originally had writen it down as "T.A." but I think realized what it stood for lol)
A.T Custom Creations
MJ's Custom Cakes
MJ's Custom Creations
Custom Cakes by Michelle
'FOND' of Cakes
The Perfect Layer
Tiers of Joy
Tiers of Heaven

What does everyone think? Any other ideas? I'm not sure if I want to have "cake" in the business name for later on when I expand. I plan do to cookies, cupcakes etc eventually.
But my mom suggested that if I used Cake in the name I could later add "Cakes, Cupcakes, Cookies and more" under the name.

Well, sit down and check with Google when you start making up names. Because if somebody else has taken it, that's the quickest way to find out.

I would think that something along the line of "MJ's Bakes" would cover anything you sell.

The wholesale baking equipment supply in Winnipeg used to be called Love Enterprises. Hope it's still there...

You can research other business in your niche like what kind of name they are using and in what trend... You need to allot few days to research other business so that you get some idea what to use. You may try combining few here and there recipies name or something to create name. Or best idea is to hire someone to suggest name.
I would recommend forzenlemons.com they provide good business name suggestions..

My business name was also taken, by quite a few businesses. However, I added "of Medfield" to the end of the name to make it my own. Now to start marketing...

You have a moment, actually a few seconds, to make the potential customer interested. Make sure that your name gives the best description of what you do.

I own three businesses:

Just Desserts Delivered
Restoration Chic Antiques
French Market Coffee Shop

You know exactly what my businesses do. I'm not saying that catchy names are bad, but if the complete message is not conveyed, use a tag line of five or fewer words to go along with it. Also, don't box yourself in if you plan to expand. For example, in my retail shop, the "Delivered" is written very small under the "Just Desserts", but it works perfectly on the website.
