What are the flowers called that are used on this cake? What is the artificial version of this flower made of?

Erm I'm not sure it looks like maybe a type of poppy, I found this image of a rhododendrom that looks similar http://www.rhododendrons.com/sales/images/m/4883_flower1.jpg

I think they are parrot tulips. You would make them from gumpaste/flowerpaste.

Ah yep it does look like a tulip, especially the frilled edges!!!

I think the flower is very similar to this, more like a peony.

My first reaction was a peony - opened but I can't see the center so it could be a parrot tulip or even some sort of orchid. the second flower down on the right looks like it has an orchid center but the flower on the left looks like an open parrot tulip?????? Anyway, it would be made using gumpaste.

its a global sugar art type of peony... go to global sugar art and look at their ready made peonies and it will look just like that
