I know this is the place to go for advice... I am transporting and setting up a 4 tiered wedding cake about an hour from being made. Do most of you use a 1/2" drum broard under your cakes or is there something better? I am using the SPS stacking system but was looking for something sturdy enough under the final 16" tier... ideas? suggestions? cost effectiveness? any thoughts would be appreciated.... Thanks in advance.... icon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

I like the 1/2 drum boards and use them for almost all my cakes. I tend to get much bigger than needed. I personally feel more secure with the added space. Additional 3-4 inches bigger than the cake.

Once in a pinch, under my 16" cake I used a styrofoam piece. I loved how it worked but you do have to wrap the sides. It also keep the cake from sliding in my car.
