I have tried about 5 different banana cake recipes and they all come out like banana bread. I need a recipe that is cake like, not bread like.

Anyone have a good one?

Do you have a vanilla cake that you like? Seriously...mash up ripe bananas and fold them in. Nothing better than a good vanilla cake with mashed banana. No need for fake flavorings, extracts, puddings, nothing. Pure bananas.

I use this one and it's delicious! Originally from Kraft Foods:
1 pkg yellow cake mix
3 eggs
1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3)
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup oil
Heat oven to 350. Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl, mix on low until moistened. Beat on medium 2 minutes scraping bowl. Now it says to use a 13x9 pan but I believe I have used 2 round 8's.(greased and floured) Bake about 35 minutes depending on your oven. If I remember, it doesn't make a ton of batter so you might need to double or triple depending on how much you need. I used a cream cheese icing and drizzled walnuts on it. HTH Enjoy!!

This sounds good, but just wondered is it a very dense cake like a bread, or is it lighter? Every recipe I've tried has come out more like banana bread and I can't find one that's not that heavy. icon_sad.gif

I know what you mean. It's been a few months since I've eaten it but if I recall, it's not a fluffy cake. It is a more dense cake but I don't know if I'd call it banana bread texture. It is very banana-y. I make banana bread too, and I'd say the texture is not like that.
