Hi guys, so last week i did a 3 tiered fondant cake stacked decorated and the whole nine yards only to learn that the shower wasn't last weekend but yesterday. I started to panicked and asked for advice on what to do. I got mixed reactions, some thought i should take it apart, donate it and start all over againlater in the week. Some said i could freeze the entire cake.

So i took a chance and thought i'd freeze it....well i didn't have a box and i had already packaged the cake in cellophane so i just placed it in about 3 large garbage bags and popped it in the deep freezer. I took it out Saturday night cause the shower was Sunday evening, left it in the freezer and about 3 hours before i delivered it place it on my counter still in the bags......DRUMROLL....the cake was PERFECT....no sticky fondant, no condensation, not a drop of water on that fondant...i also had bows and flowers attached to the cake and nothing drooped....so yes you can definitely freeze a fondant cake, I got a text this mornign that the cake was sooo moist and delicious....i'm posting a pic of the cake after freezing.... icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

I am so glad to hear this. I have been asked to make 10 table cakes for a graduation party in 2 weeks, but I will be on vacation. The individual asked if it was possible to get them early & freeze them. Think I will give it a shot.

I think you meant that you took it out of the freezer (the night before) and put it in the fridge (still covered) overnight and then on the counter (still covered) for 3 hours before delivery, right?

So glad it worked out for you.

Sorry, I just have to say it: TOLD YA' SO!!!! Yay!!!!!

this is excellent news for me. I was just going to ask if I could make my decorations now and freeze them until June 2nd. so, you just wrapped it in clear plastic wrap?

Thanks for the correction blakescakes....and yes, U told me so icon_biggrin.gif lol

stephdover4 I didn't use plastic wrap cause i had already packages the cake in cellophane wrap and it was looking too cute to destroy all that wrapping so i just used garbage bags. 1st 1 from the top down then i did 1 from the bottom up and then another one top down...so the entire cake was protected by the bags. i'm sure plastic wrap should work fine, but then again the cellophane wrap is thicker than plastic wrap. give it a test and see.

I'm also still trying to post the pic but now it's saying the pic is too small.....i normally take my pics with my Android phone, could that be the reason?
