Need Help Pricing A Syrofoam Fondant Cake?

Hi! I have had someone ask me to make their wedding cake! It is going to be a three tiered Styrofoam square cake covered in fondant with a flower. I am at a complete loss on what to charge! I know that they have went to a bakery in the area and were going to charge around $400 and they thought that was way over priced. What are a few of your opinions?????? Thank you for your help!!

Standard is to charge at least 80% the cost of real cake, so $320--if you would charge $400 for a cake of that size.
Of course, they'll still have to decide if they're going to provide cake for their guests--who might find it odd to see a cake on display and then not get a piece of it......so kitchen cakes need to be factored in...........

How much would you charge if this were cake. I would start with that rate, subtract the difference in labor hours; subtract the difference in supply cost and overhead (electricity/water) costs, and base it on the remaining figure

Right. That's were the figure of 80% comes in. It accounts for those differences.
