A quick question to those of you who do weddings. After you have signed a bride and all the details are set, how often do you connect with the bride between that time and when the balance of the order is due? Do you ever send a quick email to check in with them or do you assume no news is good news and you'll email them just before final payment is due?

I personally only email when needed. I do however touch base before I deposit my final paymet or just before I require the final paymet if they have not given a posted dated cheque.

I usually touch base about a month before the final payment is due to confirm everything is still the same. Then i send a pdf of the invoice ahead of time in case I need to correct anything.
After final payment I confirm receipt, and then touch base again the week of the event to confirm delivery details.

Once they signed and I had the deposit in my hand, I pretty much never talked or saw them until the wedding. I made it clear that the contract was my working orders. "This is what I'm looking at when I'm making your cake (and catering). If it's not written down, it's not happening." I coordinated delivery directly with the venue. The only time I sent an email after the booking was if their final payment was running late (which was super rare since everything was clearly spelled out in their contract).
