Hi , Can someone please tell me what the lastest info is on using the cricut cake with gypsy?
Is there any software that is compatible to use so I can hook this up to computer?
Am I just stuck buying cartridges now?

I like using it but of course run into the problem of needing more designs.

Any help is appreciated.
Thank you
Wendy

Are you talking about using the gypsy or using 3rd party software? There is a plugin you can download to use software but I haven't tried it.

I have a program called Design Studio that I use with both my Cricut Cake and my Original Cricut. I'm not sure if they still make the program, but it might be worth looking into.

Does that require cartridges?

It does, but the idea is to be able to combine items from multiple cartridges. You can only use the cartridges that the program knows you have, though.

The plugin is suppose to work with 3rd party software like make the cut.

I guess I'm a little confused. I read on Make the cut that it no longer is compatible to cricut. I don't know what the third party thing is you are referring to
From what I understood the gypsy puts your whole library of pic art on the cartridge and you take it anywhere, but you have to have all the cartridges first.
Am I correct on that?
It seems the design studio is the same also

Make the cut is 3rd party software. Bu itself it is no longer compatible, however there is a plugin that you can download from the internet to make it work. From what I understand the plugin was removed from the software when they were sued by Provocraft. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

HI -
I use a program called "Sure Cuts a Lot". I sometimes use this in conjuction with Inkscape and Photoshop. Using these I can create an image of just about anything and cut it out on my Cricut.

I don't know about Design Studio and how much flexibility it has.

the gypsy is as someone mentioned, just a portable library of all your cartridges which you plug directly into your cricut and can cut from any of the designs loaded on it. You can also design your cutting mats at your leisure and save them for a later date. Now to get more designs you have to either buy more cartridges or Provocraft now have a 'Craftroom' where you can buy individual patterns or groups of pattern to cut. Haven't done that myself but have taken a look. Once you buy them they are stored for your future use. You may want to explore that instead of buying cartridges that may only have one or 2 images that you want to use.

Thanks for info everyone. I did see that craftroom and looked around for a bit. I'll have to check it out a little more. If anyone comes up with anything else we haven't mentioned here please be sure and fill us in .
Thanks
