Hello - I have been asked to make a groom's cake for a wedding that is in 18 days. I am not a professional/do not own a bakery and have never made a cake in the shape of a car. The mother of the bride did not ask that I make the cake in that shape and just wants the theme of the cake to be a Corvette since the groom and his grandfather used to work on one before the passing of the grandfather. The year of the car is 1963. I might be neat to make a car-shaped cake even though it is not required. It does have to be in buttercream but can have fondant elements on it. Does anyone know of instructions on how to make a cake in the shape of a car or does anyone have suggestions on a cake that uses that theme but isn't necessarily in the shape of a car?

Have you considered using just the 1963 corvette emblem? Carving the cake into the shape of the emblem (2d shape) and then decorating it?

Yeah, I was thinking about that since I just don't know I can make a 3D car cake.
