Hi. I just read a tutorial on the SPS system. It was my understanding, before I looked at the tutorial, that I would be able to decorate my cake and then seperate the tiers for transport. Is this not the case? I have an hour drive to my girlfriend's wedding and I am terrified to drive with a four-tierd cake stacked in one peice...

Keep your cakes seperate on their own cardboard rounds. In each cake, stick the pillars/plates in before you leave so all you have to do is stack. Did that make sense?

Yes! That makes total sense! Maybe what I am not understanding is why I cannot put the cake together, decorate, and unstack the cake for travel and restack at the venue. I am being told in no uncertain terms not to do that..

I guess you could if you're taking just the cardboard round (with cake) off and not the SPS plate (leaving that in/on the next tier down). It's not impossible, but it would be messy. Is it a design that needs to be stacked to decorate?

I've driven 30 mins with a 6 tier with SPS. It's pretty solid. You could just travel with it stacked.

It's Dasies that are cascading on an angle, that's why I would like to see what it looks like together and then separate...it's a four tier cake, possibly five...I have an hour and a half drive to the venue... I am afraid that it will tip over!
