I just finished putting together a standing elephant out of rice krispie treats (about 8 inches long and 4 inches tall. He has plenty of structural support but my real question is how to get the thing covered. I know you can cover it in bc then fondant, but ive seen some of those turn out kind of lumpy and bumpy... and with it beign standing i think itll be hard to cover that way anyways (get in btwn its legs, etc). Has anyone ever used chocolate melts to cover a rice krispies sculpture? if so, how well does this work??

I works fine, but increases your costs. Just let it cool all the way before covering with fondant.

You can smooth the icing (royal or bc) with gloves on your hands. The idea is to get it smoothed because fondant will seek its own level.

Happy baking,
