Can anyone explain how to use the patchwork cutters letters? I bought them to make nice precise lettering but no matter what I try the gum paste or fondant gets stuck in the cutter and loses that perfect shape as I try to remove it. I've tried using crisco and cornstarch and I've also tried letting the gum paste or fondant set up a bit before cutting but no luck. Any advice before I throw them away?
Have you tried chilling/freezing your gumpaste/fondant? I know that is the only way that i can get the sharp cuts that I like. HTH
Somewhere I read that you could do the following:
1.place paste on wax paper ( roll very thinly ) place saran wrap on top of paste and cut.
2.lift saran wrap {plastic film) and just leave the cut letters to dry a little before using them so as to not distor their shape.
or you can read the following link

Good luck

Marion Frost (Patchwork Cutters) recommends using Mexican Paste. Here is a link to the recipe and method for making it and also tips on using the paste with the cutters.
