I'm from the UK, and the only coloured fondant I've managed to come across is Regalice. I like it because you can buy relatively small amounts of beautiful colours, but it's SO hard to work with. Out of the packet, it's too soft - the red is the worst culprit for this - anything less than an entire layer of cornflour between me/my tools and the fondant, and it just STICKS to everything, my hands, the counter, parchment paper, everything - and it tears so easily once rolled. Am I doing something wrong? It was a little easier to work with after I'd kneaded a rather large amount of powdered sugar into it, but surely this can't be a normal occurrence? It seems strange to me that they would sell something that isn't quite as ready-to-use as the packaging claims. I always knead my fondant before use, but it's impossible to knead this stuff with just a dusting of cornflour on my worktop.

Is it me? Is it the colours I'm using? (Green, red and black) Is it the brand, and is there a different brand you'd recommend? I've tried making my own MMF, but every time it's come out a creamy colour - which is fine, mostly, but when I want really vibrant colours, I tend to prefer the pre-coloured stuff.

I also find Regalice terribly soft, both the white and the colours. And yes it cracks easily. I only use it in emergencies and for small details. It also dries out really quick in storage, no matter how much clingfilm you use. You could try the brand M&B, also in the UK. My favourite brand is PME, and if you use Sugarflair Red Extra colouring it doesn't take alot to get a nice red colour - they also do Black Extra and Foliage Green Extra.

Thanks for the suggestions, Dayti! I've only ever used PME's gumpaste before, I didn't know they made fondant, and I've never heard of M&B! I'll have to track down a decent supply store or have a hunt online Thanks again!
