Dark chocolate cake (Cake doctor recipe) sitting in one of 4 ovens happily baking until my tired stressed out self turned the damn oven off with the cake in it! OH NO I didn't! Oh God I really did. Did not even realize it until I was cleaning bakery, wrapping cakes and putting them in the fridge for the night and started wondering where the other 12" and 6" chocolate were. I reheated the oven and am PRAYING it turns out because I REALLY can't afford to START ALL OVER TOMORROW! Have that sinking feeling I am going to be starting all over on those layers when I need to be icing and decorating them for the wedding not baking and cooling. ARGHHHHHH. So irritated at myself. Someone please say a prayer for me. TOO Many things going on here.
I did the opposite last week. I was cleaning and thought I was done and I realized one of the ovens was on. It was only one pan of cupcakes (but I needed them) but they baked for about 1/2 hour. It comes from too many projects going on at one time.
Yep, you have too much going on. We see the symptoms and sympathize. There are ways to handle some of this. But it's hard when you're the owner. Hope your cakes were okay this time.
I've had that happen with a cheesecake I made. I put the oven back on an hour later and it baked beautifully! Depends how far along the cake had been baked.
Yep, I've turned the oven off with cakes in it.....though I didn't realize I had turned it off. I was expecting company, rushing around to get things done and had got a head start on a glass of wine...or two.. I couldn't understand why the cakes weren't rising, and were taking forever. Duh! When I finally opened the oven there was hardly any heat coming from it.
Cheesecakes are a different story, you can definitely bake them twice. Cakes, not so much. Hope it was in there long enough before you shut it off and turns out well in the end!
