I've been asked to make 3-D car cakes of a Vauxhall Astra and an Audi A4. Does anyone have a good tutorial on how to carve and cover car cakes? It's my first time doing a car! It will be covered in fondant and I'm terrified that it will rip and crack, any tips on how to prevent this?
Thank you in advance!

If you have some time, order the dvd from Mike McCarey called "Cakeology", it's a great dvd and it will take you step by step.

If you don't have time, go to Flickr and look up "Bellatheball", she has step by step pictures on doing a car cake, it is great and funny. She's also on CC, so look her up, she's really nice and very helpful.

Try rolling the fondant thicker than usual (especially in the middle). The fondant needs to be smoothed over from top to bottom, gently covering each part as you move down.

I did a racing car last week using my son's car as a guideline.
