How do I cover a cake board with fondant without it cracking around the edge? I have tried different types /thicknesses of fondant, added shortening - all I ever end up with is a mess! I usually resort to only covering the top of the board and then gluing a ribbon on the edge. Any tips?
Roll your fondant out on a mat, or if you don't have a mat, place it on a large sheet of parchment or wax paper lightly dusted with ps after rolling it out. Make sure it's large enough that it will hang all the way to the bottom of the board's edges. Then place your board, top side down on the fondant. Flip it over and peel the mat or paper away and smooth the fondant around the edges just like you'd do with a cake. Then take your pizza cutter or whatever you use and cut around the bottom edge of the board.
