I am making a small 4 inch tall figure. I tried fondant mixed with gumpaste and the arms and face dried all wrinkly. I then tried making it out of fondant and I find that the fondant wrinkles too upon drying! I don't know what else to do!

Is there any way to get it to dry smooth or to smooth out the wrinkles?

Absolutely...you can microwave your fondant/gumpaste first, then (firmly) roll it into a smooth ball, THEN proceed with making whatever you need to - arm, leg, head etc.

I prefer to use fondant mixed with tylose...it doesn't dry as quickly so you have time to work on your piece till you're satisfied with it.

I also like using fondant with Tylose powder added. I only microwave my fondant/Tylose mixture if it has gotten a little hard. I always start by rolling a ball and once the ball is nice and smooth I shape the arm or leg. It sometimes helps to put just a very small amount of Crisco on your hands. If your figures are wrinkled after drying they were not smooth to start with. The wrinkles just show up more after it dries.

Thank you so much everyone!  I have adopted all of the ideas and even though I don't make many figures. I feel more confident now. Thanks!
