Hi all. I like this buttercream recipe...but wanted to know if you knew how I should make it a chocolate version? can i sub some of the powder sugar with cocoa powder? Do i melt some chocolate squares in? Any idea what the best was is to do this? I already have a batch made, and if I could test it out, that'd be great...or is it better to just start a new batch, and mix in at certain times? Thanks!!

If you read the comments on that recipe you'll see that a couple of people posted how they made the recipe into chocolate. Just search "chocolate" in your browser and eventually you'll reach the comment.

However, I use this recipe and it's awesome.

This is the same recipe I have been using for twelve years except I don't add the almond extract. This is the chocolate butter cream I love. It crusts just like the recipe you posted above and tastes wonderful. http://allrecipes.com/PersonalRecipe/62911369/Decadent-Chocolate-Fudge-Buttercream-Frosting/Detail.aspx
