My frosting doesn't crust and I just got a cake order for a carved fire truck cake. I want to cover it in fondant. Any thoughts on if this will work?

Thank you!

Yes, it will work. The downside is that if you mess up and need to pull the fondant off, your frosting goes with it, and you also can't reuse the same piece of fondant.

If your frosting is butter based and cold when you put it on, you can still pull off the fondant and most will stay put. I've had to do it before.

Yes, I use SMBC exclusively and cover carved and non-carved cakes all the time.

Thank you! I was worried it wouldn't work. Mine isn't butter based so it stays very soft. Maybe I'll try it on a small round cake to get a feel for it.
