Hello CC's members. I am making a cake in the shape of a sofa and want to make it glossy to resemble leather, but would prefer not to steam it (never get it right!). Is there another technique I can try?
I thank you all in advance for your suggestions and ideas!
Hi,
You could use vegetable oil brushed onto yr fondant. It gives a shiny look to the fondant. It will eventually start to fade and dry away but, that usually takes awhile before it happens.
HTH
Airbrush it with just water - same effect as steaming but more controlled. Or the oil will work too, but sometimes that gets absorbed and the shine goes away after awhile.
Right before I deliver , I spray cakes I want to be glossy with a little PAM. Works great!
Thanks Melanie... never would have thought of PAM!
Should try it
could you tell me what PAM is!!!
