I see different decorations and some say made with a mixure of fondant and gum paste, why do they do that? And not just use one or the other? I am assuming there is some specific reason for it but don't know why?? Thanks icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Decorations made with gum paste are generally stronger.

Fondant - - good taste, easy to work with, longer drying time
Gum paste - - nasty taste, dries fast and very stiff

A mixture of 50/50 gives one the best of both mediums.
Slows the gp from drying out too fast giving you more time to create your masterpiece.
