I need to make a stand up gum paste fleur di les topper for my friends birthday cake. She wants the fleur di les to be 2 different colors, kind of layered... first layer black, then light purple, then she wants zebra stripes on the purple layer. How can I do the fleur di les like in the photo below? Do I print out a fleur di les "template" then cut out 1 large solid black fleur di les then cut it out again in purple then glue it on top of the black then add stripes? I hope I'm explaining this ok lol.
This is what she wants, but in purple/black...

Hi,

This pic looks like it was either hand painted or hand piped bc one side of the fleur de lis is slightly bigger than the other. But, yes, I would do it exactly how you discribed. Just make sure that when you cut the purple one to trim all around to make it a lil smaller than the black one. So, the black edges will show. Then continue as you stated icon_smile.gif
