I don't have a price to quote, but would guess it depends on the detail of each rose. There are some that are fairly quick to make and others that are so intricate (with each petal cut separately and veined) that would be more time consuming esp. for that many, my goodness! Curious to see everyone's opinions!

I include this cost in with my price quote. I have three price levels - classic, elegant, and exquisite being the most elaborate and includes gum paste flowers. For my internal purposes I use $8.00 per large detailed rose and the accompanying gum paste leaves.
I also make my roses petal by petal. Just take a look at my avatar and you will see one of mine. For a dozen full roses from the time of coloring the gum paste, making the center, to adding the petals, and then dusting them takes me about 10 hours. If I calculate $10.00 per hour and then the cost of the gum paste and other supplies you arrive at around $135.00, which is just over $11.00 each. I am not sure anyone would pay $11.00 each no matter how perfect they are and mine look so real people think they are natural roses. If people in your area were to pay this then go for it!
I also price my cakes as one fee, the more you want on a cake the more it cost, even a small one. I had a cake I priced at 575.00, three tiers and lots of sugar flowers, the client wanted to bring it down to 400.00 so she got flowers only on the front of the cake instead of all the way around. I don't price the decor seperate, I hope that helps. BTW I would pay 11.00 per rose those are insane! it takes a lot of time and practice to do sugar flowers, get paid to do them.

I charge by the hour for my specialty gum paste flowers. I'm sorry, but I'm not doing specialty work for $10 an hour. In California that's only a little over minimum wage and not everyone can do them. You have to price your work for what the market will bear in your area, and what you want to get paid for specialty work. It's just like blown or pulled sugar, not everyone can make those, and not everyone can afford to buy them.
Now, if they want the premade gumpaste roses those are cheap, like $2 to $4 a rose and still quite nice. Most non-cake people would never know the difference and still oooo and ahh over the premade kind. So it's up to you what you want to charge. I charge $20 an hour for my work plus supplies, so whatever I can make in an hour is what the price is.

And I too would pay $11 a rose. They are works of art and being made of sugar and perceived disposable by some doesnt make them any less worthy than if they were make in porcelain clay. Same amount of work and talent. I only charge $9 because im in an area where pricing all around is less. If I still lived in Jersey it would probably be 12 a rose
