And it's not a paper weight. I have the regular Cricut not the Cricut Cake and I have only 4 Cricut cartridges, all fonts because I hate writing on cakes. Anyway, I've never really been sure what to do with it. I didn't want to upgrade to a cake Cricut because people struggle so much with the gumpaste and the fondant. I didn't want to put fondant and gumpaste in my cricut because I read it can get gunked up if you don't have the right blade housing or a real Cricut Cake.

Anyway, I got a couple of Lucks edible image sheets on clearance and thought I would test them out on my Cricut. Mind you I have never used my Cricut for anything but a couple of test runs on plain paper so no scrapbooking or cross contamination. Anyway...it worked..and I mean it worked worked. It worked AWESOME! I used the Luck's Edible Image Plaid pattern to do the lettering on these cupcakes.

For anyone interesting in trying this here are the details. I left the image on the backing and used a regular Cricut mat. The speed and pressure are both on 3 and the blade housing is also on 3. For these particular cupcakes I used the Storybook Font (Short) with a size of 1 1/4 inch.

I just wanted to share. If you fight your Cricut, try the edible images and/or icing sheets. Actually now that it works, I want to order some of the "better" quality edible papers from Icing Images. Next I have to test it with the Wilton sheets. I got a couple of those for Christmas but man are they pricey.

I will never write on cakes again and I will probably retire all of my tappits as well

I don't know why I never thought of this! I've put the images on gumpaste and tried to cut before, it looked like junk. My cricut collects dust. Now you make me want to get a regular mat, it's sticky so the paper doesn't move, right?

I use the premium sheets from icingimages and just tape them to a cake mat. I trim a little from each side so I can can tape the edges of the backing to the mat and it cuts beautifully.

Tiggy, do you use just the premium sheets, which are solid or have you used the patterned sheets from Icing Images.
What I would like to do is a pattern with a solid shadow but I don't want to order the patterned sheets if they are not as easy to work with.

Just curious about your experience. I'm so glad I've inspired a few of you to try out your Cricut again. I seriously thought mine was going to be a paper weight as well. Hooray for icing sheets

I've only used the solid ones. If I want a design I print on it with an EI printer.
