I was asked today to do a cake decorating class for a girls 14th birthday. It would be for her and 2 friends. The mother wants me to teach them how to decorate while doing the girls cake. I'm wondering if anyone has some advice on how to do this...and what to charge for it.

My first thought was to show them how to do the techniques and let them decorate her cake...but then I don't really want my name on something I didn't do and if it turns out bad and they tell people...? So, then do I decorate her cake and let them decorate dummy cakes, but that would be a lot more money for me...so I would have to charge more...? I'm just a little stumped on this and looking for some insight icon_smile.gif As far as the price I was going to charge normal price for the cake and then add on for the "class" but I'm just not sure how much that should be.

I should add that I'm from a small town and do this out of my home.

Hope all that makes sense!
Thanks icon_smile.gif

I started recently cake decorating classes for kids and adults - fondant only. Charge $45/hour per person + costs of ingredients, supplies. I don't accept more than 2 people per lesson (space issue). You can see one of the cakes decorated in the beginner class in my photos - plane cake. If you would like to know more, PM me. HTH
