I posted a picture of a purse that I made for a party today and as you will see in the pic it was pink...it was in the sun for maybe 10 min's as she was cutting it and when we brought it back in the house it had completely faded!! It went a very pale pale pinkish white! So beware...I was thinking, what if this was a wedding cake and the colour faded that much after so little time! eeeek wouldn't want that to happen!

Not sure what happened. My cake has been sitting next to a window for 2 days now and hasn't faded. I took a piece of the mmf outside and the color did not change. It's 90deg and very sunny here.

I've never used MMF (I pretty much use BC or cheep ol' nasty fondant), but bubblezmom hasn't had trubble with it, maybe its the color your using??? or maybe a different recepie? just a thought...

I have had purple MMF fade to cornflower blue (see tiny flowers on large cake in my photos). Am considering using Satinice fondant or trying a different fondant recipe, maybe its the ingredients in the MMF that make it fade. ?? Experienced this both with Wilton purple and Americolors purple.

I've had pink fade on me as well. In my photos is a Christening cake with a pink fondant bow with curly tassle thingys. The loops didn't fade as bad however the curly things did. You can see it in the photo where the loops are lighter on the outside, darker inside...not intentional, I assure you. It was the Wilton pink I had used as well.

I think I remember a previous discussion on this as well, pink fading in the sun. I don't think it was ever resolved as to if this is avoidable icon_confused.gif ...must admit, it is weird!

Okay, I just looked at the photo and the loops of the bows faded on top but stay

Everyone that has responded saying that your fondant did fade, was it MMF or a different kind of fondant?

Has anyone experienced fading with SatinIce or any other "cake shop" brand of fondant? Thank you!

I used regular food dye to make various shades of pink. The hot pink was still hot pink after setting in the sun.

I have had this happen with all kinds of fondant, royal and buttercream things, depending on the colours. It is common, in fact most folks avoid any kind of light exposure that is long-term. The reds, pinks and violets are the worse for fading or colour change. There are usually warnings about this in cake decorating books.
Some windows may have filters so this may lessen the fading.

Who would've thought it would fade! My problem is usually that things intensify in color as they sit. I made a sponge bob a couple weeks ago and over-used the golden yellow! He was almost electric in the morning!!!
