Are you talking about the ones who work at Michael's and other stores like that, or are you talking about the Wilton School? icon_confused.gificon_confused.gif

I'm happy for you! I was contacted by Wilton last week for a position as a Wilton instructor at Hobby Lobby. I was super excited about the opportunity but as soon as I met with the store manager, I knew it was not gonna work. He seemed very errogant and through out our entire meeting he kept mentioning the "other six Wilton instructors in the past 4 months". That was a bad sign. On top of that, I overheard him telling the assistant manager that "I hope she doesn't think that I'm gonna help her set her classes up because that's not how it works here." I guess he didn't like that I asked questions and he didn't know that I hung around the store for a while doing some shopping after our meeting. Anyway, sorry to sidetrack...I hope all goes well with your new venture!

Fedra: My gut instinct would be this. I am not going to work with someone who is that arrogant and thinks that they know it all. My second instinct would be I am going to show him I can succeed where the others have failed. Go back to the store and tell him that the reason you were asking the questions you asked were not because you were expecting him to set up your classes for you, but because you wanted to know how this store handled scheduling for the classes. You did not want to set classes up and advertise for them and then find out there was a conflict with the classroom availability. I am betting that he will wonder how you knew that he thought you were wanting him to set them up for you. He will wonder if you were told by another employ or how did you know. Now he is probably not going to ask you because I bet he has too much pride. Then depending on how he reacts go about setting up a schedule for the classroom so that you can advertise your classes and get things started. If he is still arrogant, but gives you the information you need then blow off the arrogance and go forth. Be as nice as you can and be as professional as you can in spite of his attitude--be the bigger person because of it in other words. I bet that you can be a success where the others have failed. If this is not the case then I would contact Wilton and tell them that you are now aware of why they have had to place so many different teachers in that particular store. Tell them what happened during and after your talk with the man. I bet anything that they will be very interested to know this information. I am betting that if they have had to place 7 different teachers in that one store in such a short time that they will sit up and take notice.

thebaketress:; I am excited for you too. Best wishes on your future.

Congratulations thebaketress. I hope all goes well and you get classroom full of great, eager students ready to learn.

Fedra I agree with Jules5000. Take the high road with this guy. If they have had 6 instructors in 4 months I'm pretty sure the manager is the problem that needs a solution.
