hello
I want to make a cake in the shape of a ball. I'm afraid if I use a cake mix from a box it will fall apart. Does anyone have a recipe that is good for carving?
thank you

I made a basketball cake last month for my nephew. I used the White Almond Sour Cream Cake from this site and it worked great. Freezing your layers before constructing and shaping them makes it very easy to manage. Hope it turns out great!

Like the previous 2 posts, I've carved vanilla WASC. and the durable chocolate from this site. I press down the cakes right out of the oven instead of trimming to add density. I also freeze before carving.
