I just wrote out a whole explanation of my question, but I basically would like to know if there is anywhere out there that explains supports and the structure behind cakes. I dont know a lot about DIY so I cant just think of something and build it because I wouldnt know where to start! How did you all learn about different supports for 3d cakes?

I've done 2 3d cakes (fairy and a teddy) lately and both times had problems with the head. luckily both times they have been fixable, but next time maybe it wont be and its got me worried as I've been asked to do a peppa pig for the end of october.

I learned from practice. I also spent a lot of time at the hardware stores looking at different things. mostly with taller head structures I use a cross joint. (I'm sure it has a real name, but basically it has 4 openings, top bottom, left and right) And I connect my shoulder joints into it and the body pole and head pole connect into it as well. They sell it in PVC and copper, so whatever you are building with, you can make it work.
