I'd like to ask if anyone has any suggestions/recommendations regarding fondant modeling classes? I am more interested in making small cupcake toppers and have been trying to find classes that will teach how to make those toppers. Oh I live in NY but would be willing to travel! Thank you very much!!

Until you find classes, look online.
You tube has tons of videos.
Also, look up stuff and use Fimo or modeling clay in your search.
There is a lot of info out there for those as well that you can use with fondant instead of clay!
