Has anyone heard of this before? I've heard of the birthday cake flavored ice cream but never a cake. I have a request to do a GF birthday cake flavored cake..I've searched everywhere but nothing. She said if it's not something I can do, vanilla would be fine. So if you guys aren't familiar with it either, vanilla it is! Thanks in advance everyone!

That's all I can think of too...but vanilla is surely easy enough to do, especially Gluten Free so that'll have to do. It's a small order but I'm sure she'll be happy with it! Thanks!

This says it is white cake flavored icing, so I'm thinking a white or vanilla cake would be fine. Maybe the sprinkles kind of cake would make it more fun and festive?

It's a Starbucks thing... "Birthday Cake" flavor is what they're calling their vanilla cake pops.

I had something similar happen to me once, the groom asked for "wedding cake flavored cake" I thought he was just being sassy because he didn't care what the flavor was. It turns out, he was serious.

I made them vanilla cake because the bride and I could not figure out what he meant and couldn't get much more of a description from him.

Later I found out that "wedding cake flavor" is likely creme bouquet http://www.globalsugarart.com/product.php?id=21621&name=Creme%20Bouquet%20Flavor%208%20ounce%20by%20Magic%20Line

From what I can tell you add it to your vanilla cake. I never tried it, perhaps this or some other similar extract is what she means?

LOL it's not just Starbucks! Cold Stone Creamery has what they call a Birthday Cake Remix which is cake batter ice cream mixed with brownies, fudge, and sprinkles. It's been around forever. I also went into a gourmet store over the weekend and they had cake batter fudge.

The girl at Cold Stone told me they put a whole bag of cake mix into the ice cream. The people at the gourmet store told me they also use cake mix in their fudge.

I would do a confetti cake if I were you.

Thanks again everyone! This all helps so much! It will be vanilla with confetti! I didn't realize that 'occasions' had cake flavors! Learn something new every day!

AMy daughter just asked me to make her a birthday cake flavor cake for her birthday. She said the cake with confetti in it. So I will be making her a vanilla with sprinkles in it with marshmallow buttercream icing next week.

<ROFLMFAO>

Around here, "birthday cake flavor" means chocolate for my mom, a naked pound cake for my dad (even before he became mildly type-2 diabetic, he was never big on frosting), and could mean either spice, or strawberry marble, or any form of straight-vanilla for me.

It is always chocolate for me, sometimes black raspberry or crème de menthe, or mocha, or something else, but always chocolate cake!

But, I confess I have finally jumped on the bandwagon, and have a "birthday cake flavor". It is just a plain vanilla. It is sometimes a mix of left over white, and leftover yellow batters, too, lol. I do French vanilla, that has a rich vanilla flavor, and vanilla bean specks in it. It is heavier, also.

I think generally, when you see "birthday cake flavor," it's the fake vanillin and other artificial flavors in a cake mix which gives yellow cake its "yellow taste."
